Arizona
Arizona is located in the southwestern region of the United States. As the 48th state to be added to the contiguous states (on Valentine’s Day 1912), Arizona is home to more than 6,338,666 people. It is the sixth largest state bordered by California, Mexico, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada (touches Colorado). In 2006, Arizona was the fastest growing state in America.

Climate
There are various elevations throughout the state, which allows it to have a wide variety of localized climate conditions. Throughout the lower elevations of the state, which are primarily desert lands, there are mild winters and hot summers; averaging a minimum of 60 degrees and a high point of 125 degrees.

In Arizona there is about 12.7 annual inches of rainfall. This accumulates during two rainy seasons; during the winter when cold fronts come from the Pacific and during mild summers when monsoons occur (between July and August).
Economy
In 2006, there was a total gross state product of $232 billion in Arizona. This gives it a greater economy than Ireland, Finland and New Zealand. Today, Arizona has the 21st largest economy in the United States. The overall budget of Arizona is projected to be $1.7 billion in 2009, which is the largest in the country.
The state’s largest employment provider is Wal-Mart, which has over 17,343 employees. There were 161,166 residents working in the high-tech sector in 2001. High-tech payroll in 2001 was $2.2 billion.
