There are plenty of homes available throughout Utah at this point in time. Unfortunately, what’s not available anymore is the tax incentive that helped drive home sales last year.
It was reported that Utah home sales fell 34% from this same time period last year. This was after a small increase in sales for September. The tax incentive and the still too high unemployment rate seems to still be causing most of the problems. And then there’s the issue of foreclosures, still high in Utah even with the short federal government moratorium, as home prices held steady.
Of course, this means that it’s a buyer’s market with plenty of deals to be made, and of course assistance for first time and low income families such as what’s being made available in West Valley. Mortgage rates are low, and organizations like the Utah Housing Coalition are there to help you purchase a new home.
