Is A Plant Room A Viable Home Option?

When most people think about plant rooms, they usually imagine those large glass structures usually in the backyard of some homes, or a totally different structure that’s not attached to the home. Those are greenhouses, and though they can be kind of cool, that’s not what we’re talking about.

These days, people are deciding to add some kind of plant room to their homes. It can be a long structure, but instead it’s usually much smaller, and can take on many different formats depending on what the person wishes to do.

For instance, you can add on to the house by adding rounded glass that almost looks like a sunroom, yet is unfiltered so full sunlight can come into the room to bathe the plants. You can turn a section of your basement into a plant room, or turn a small room in the house into a gplant room. You won’t have direct sunlight, but you can add special lighting that simulates sunlight and get some of the same effect.

Which one is better? There’s no one way that’s better than the other, but the benefits can be quite different. A plant room with access to the sun can help heat the house up during the day in cold climates, helping to keep down utility costs. A plant room without access to the sun gives you the opportunity to grow some plants that probably aren’t meant for your area.

Both will help your home with cleaner air, since they thrive on the carbon dioxide we breathe out. Both will also help with the humidity balance in your home. You’ll have to keep an eye on those little bugs that will be attracted to your plants, but if you control that you’ll get a lot of enjoyment and some benefits as well.
