Another Home Built For A War Veteran

A couple of months ago we talked about the home builder Dan Wallrath and his building homes for wounded veterans. It seems the trend of taking care of America’s veterans is catching on, as another Texas home was awarded to a disabled veteran in Arlington.

The project is known as Welcome Home Hero, and it’s a joint effort from many organizations around the area. Those organizations are: WBAP-AM radio; the Bay Area Builders Association; the Texas Sentinels Foundation; REMAX; Sierra Fine Custom Homes; and some of WBAP’s sponsors.

Volunteers will help build the home with the funds that have been raised for this particular veteran, who did two tours of duty in Iraq and was injured both times, the second time resulting in the loss of one of his legs. Then to add insult to injury, his wife ended up having a stroke and is now partially paralyzed, and they have 3 kids to try to raise.

Through the radio station, people can contribute money to this special program to help honor veterans who have given selflessly of themselves for the war effort. That the ground breaking for this particular event occurred on May 25th, just days before Memorial Day, seems a fitting tribute to those in uniform who are no longer with us, and of course those who have survived to fight in some fashion for another day.
