PAHRUMP, Nevada – The Mountain Falls Grill Room is a hub of activity with sounds of laughter and the delicious aroma of mouth-watering cuisine emerging from the increasingly popular restaurant located within the Mountain Falls master-planned community in Pahrump.

With the culinary creations of Executive Chef David Hutchison, the Grill Room has grown in popularity since first opening almost four years ago about 45 miles west of Las Vegas. Hutchison served thousands of diners in 2009, and he anticipates that the sit-down dining establishment with an inviting atmosphere and casual elegance will flourish in 2010 as more people discover this hidden culinary gem overlooking the picturesque Mountain Falls Golf Club.

“We have a mixture of different types of people who enjoy the Grill Room,” Hutchison said. “We definitely have a following among our local clientele, which includes those who live in Pahrump, residents of Mountain Falls, golfers from the nearby golf club, and area groups.”

Hutchison personally spends a lot of time in the restaurant’s stainless-steel kitchen preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for diners, many of whom are repeat customers. The menu includes upscale café-style food and American cuisine complimented by a full selection of cocktails and an array of desserts. Breakfast begins at $3.95, lunch is priced from $5.95, and dinner entrees start from under $10. Hutchison said that a new menu will be introduced in the next month, adding more signature sandwiches and options.

“Our hot pastrami is one of our leading specialties. Also popular is our daily special, making each day a little different,” Hutchison said. “Our patio dining is popular with people enjoying the views of the Mountain Falls Golf Club and mountains along with a delicious meal.

“We are preparing for our special Valentine’s Day menu which will offer dinner specials along with an open menu. We also offer a special Mother’s Day and Easter buffet. We are planning barbecues for golfers on July 4th and Father’s Day which includes a golf package. Our Thanksgiving Dinner and New Year’s Eve special event have also been popular.”

Perhaps the Grill Room’s most loyal diners are Wayne and Sheila Biffel, former Californians who have resided in Pahrump for almost 14 years.

“We visit the Grill Room seven days a week, with lunch every day and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,” said Wayne Biffel. His favorite lunch item is the grilled chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread, and the couple enjoys the dinner specials in particular.

“It has excellent food. Everybody is very very friendly there. We first started going there for lunch when they (Mountain Falls) only had 9 holes at the golf course, which is pretty much since the day the restaurant opened.”

Hutchison cites consistency as the main reason for repeat customers such as the Biffels.

“We’ve been successful because of the consistency. We have friendly staff and people kind of get to know the servers and those who work here on a personal note. We offer good food. We stay consistent because we continue to offer the same quality product level. Plus the atmosphere is very relaxed. There are not many places where you have the option of either dining inside or outside on a patio overlooking a golf club.”

Additionally, the Grill Room has established itself as a popular meeting space with a special banquet menu that can be customized.

“In 2009, the Grill Room was selected as the site for over 40 special events and meetings for businesses, community organizations, church events and wedding receptions ranging in size from 25 to 340,” he said. “We already have many events scheduled for 2010.”

The restaurant is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday through Tuesday, and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday. Reservations are suggested, particularly for dinner, large groups and special events, and can be made by calling 775-537-6553.

The Grill Room overlooks the greens of the public 18-hole, par-72 Mountain Falls Golf Club. In addition to daily greens fees, annual, six-month, three-month and monthly golf passes are available to residents and nonresidents.

Nearby is the Mountain Falls residents’ facility, which provides residents of the William Lyon Homes master-planned community with convenient access to a fitness center; an outdoor aquatic center; a multipurpose room; and a residents’ lounge.

Paved walking trails meander along the perimeter of the golf course and throughout the community, connecting to various neighborhoods.

William Lyon Homes offers the Bella Sera, Cascata Ancora and Tramonto neighborhoods, where single-story homes range from 1,157 to 2,897 square feet and are priced from $99,000. The sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when models open at noon.

Classic Homes’ Paradiso neighborhood offers five single- and two-story floor plans with up to 4,300 square feet. Office hours at Paradiso vary.
