Taking loans is a very risky business that might either benefit or fail you, for they have no virtual guarantee of success or failure, especially when the personal and national economies are as unpredictable as the weather.

Sage advice on all counts. I'd have to say that the first point is the most important and often the most overlooked. Actually monitoring and keeping track of your spending and debt forces you into awareness of your habits, good or bad. For many, they see the credit card as a black hole, a freebie, without consequences. Knowing one's debts and responsibilities can cause them to edit themselves. Also, keep in mind that while credit card companies are not required to inform you, they must, upon being asked, lower your interest rate if you are eligible. Proper, on time payments should allow you to decrease your interest rate every 6 months or so.
