Schumacher Homes is a privately owned home builder based in Canton, OH. It was created in 1992 by Paul Schumacher, who is still president of the company. They are a unique national home builder in that they don’t concentrate on building homes within their own communities. Instead, they call themselves an “on the lot” builder, which means they will help home owners create the plans for their homes, and then build those homes. They presently build homes in 14 states: Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
Schumacher Homes is a certified Energy Star® home builder, meaning they consider energy efficiency as an important aspect of their home design. They were the first home builder to offer what they call On Line Design, which allows customers to make changes and additions to their home plans, email those changes to the company, and within 48 hours will have created new designs based on the customers input. They are known for their customer service as well as quality, and they have earned multiple awards, including:
1st Place, Envision Awards from the National Home Builders Association for best custom built home, 2010
Best Home Builder, Beacon Journal, 2009
Corning National Master Builder of the Year
Watermark Award for Best Master Bath in a Custom Home in the Nation, presented by Builder Magazine
#1 Design Center in America, presented by National Association of Home Builders
Best of American Living Award for Best One-of-a-Kind Custom Home over 6,500 sq. ft. presented by Professional Builder Magazine.
National Diamond Building Designation, 2-10 Homebuyers Warranty for outstanding customer satisfaction
The company on average builds 500 homes a year. They form design centers in every market they build homes in. They’re also known as a company that’s active in the community in every state, donating to charities and other causes on a regular basis. The homes they build range from $100,000 into the millions of dollars, and because of their unique nature, they’re not inhibited by having only a few floor plans. Their promise is to build a custom designed home to the specifications of the customer.
