One of the big problems of doing landscaping in many parts of Nevada comes from the fact that much of Nevada is desert land. That doesn’t really bode well for growing grass and flowers, and yet there are many homes that have beautiful landscaping, even grass. Here are 5 ideas for doing landscaping throughout Nevada.
1. If you want real green grass, you can have sods of grass laid down around your home. This usually comes in two ways. One way is a long strip of dirt and grass. The other way is smaller strips of the same. Neither of these options is all that inexpensive, and there’s a lot of maintenance that you’ll have to do to keep it around for awhile. Even so, in the hottest of conditions it may only last 2 or 3 months at best.
2. If you don’t care whether the grass is real or not, you can always lay out artificial grass carpets. True, it’s not quite the same thing as real grass, but maintenance is easier and it will bring color to your yard.
3. Go with indigenous plants. There are many varieties of cactus that can beautify your home, and they come in many different sizes. They even come in different colors naturally, and once again they need very little maintenance.
4. If you don’t want to bother as much with that type of thing, you can always go the designer rock gardens route. There are so many different designs, colors and sizes of rocks, and types of rocks that you could have 100 houses lined up next to each other and each house could have a different look. Sometimes you can highlight these rock gardens with flower pots with different plants, and even those that need high maintenance in hot weather are easier to maintain this way.
5. Fountains are always nice, whether there’s water running or not. At times of water restriction a beautiful fountain is still a great yard ornament, while at other times it’s a nice touch, and the water doesn’t have to be running hard for it to illuminate one’s house.
