Lennar Building More Homes In Florida

Going against the grain, Lennar Inc is planning on building more new homes in 2010 throughout Florida. Being a large, national home building organization, they have been able to weather the tough economic conditions in states such as Florida to continue building homes, even if they’re building fewer of them because of the surplus of existing homes that still exists.

Although they’re building in communities all over the state, Lennar is concentrating its home building in Collier and Lee Counties, most specifically the cities of Naples and Estero, two areas of the state where foreclosure rates are low compared to the rest of the state and dropping. And although some of the homes are considered affordable, they’re not going out of their way to build inexpensive homes. Many of their homes are starting around $300,000, going as high as $650,000, including homes in the gated Heritage Bay community in Naples that also contains a 27-home championship golf course and lake, tennis courts, fitness area and a 2-story clubhouse with casual dining.

At the same time, some of the housing being built are townhomes, such as in the Bella Terra community in Estero, which is also a gated community. These townhomes start around $175,000.
