Time is running out to buy a new home at The Lakes Above Rancho Santa Fe. The community, built by Lennar, boasts some of the most impressive new luxury homes in San Diego. The homes incorporate classic Spanish and early-20th Century southwestern architecture with modern features that are uniquely Southern Californian.

Nestled in the foothills adjacent to Rancho Santa Fe, the arid landscaping and mountain scenery provide a breathtaking setting for this upscale gated community. The houses are large and luxurious, with floor plans ranging from 3,840 square feet to 4,570 square feet. The sparkling lakes are surrounded by parks and walking trails, providing ample recreational opportunities for area residents. Memberships are also available at The Crosby, an exclusive country club with a championship 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, health club, swimming pool, and gourmet dining facilities.
There are only three homes left to be sold in the current phase called “Edgewater” at The Lakes. Recent price reductions resulted in four sales over the past several weeks, leaving just three homes out of 29. This is the last of four communities that have been developed and sold at The Lakes as of October 2009. Additional homes may be built in the future, but there are no additional homes scheduled to be built at this time.
The three remaining homes are all single-story designs, with 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and 3,800 square feet of living space. These homes at the Lakes are much more affordable per square foot than nearby homes for sale in Rancho Santa Fe. Although the floor plans of the three remaining homes are identical, the prices vary according to the number of builder upgrades and desirability of the home site. Two of the homes have standard builder upgrades, priced at $1,149,000 and $1,199,000. The model home for Edgewater is for sale for $1,700,000. The model home features top-of-the-line everything, professionally landscaped front and back yards, on a lakeside lot with lake and mountain views.
The Lakes has been a popular alternative to nearby Carmel Valley homes. Homes at The Lakes are priced lower than similar homes in Carmel Valley and the lot sizes are larger. Shopping and services are available in nearby Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Mountain, and Carmel Valley. But The Lakes offers a distinctly quiet, rural atmosphere, which is still convenient to everything that San Diego has to offer.
