How Much “Home” Are You Ready For?

California is a unique state in that it not only has some of the most expensive property throughout, but it’s also the home of some of the most expensive and luxurious homes in the world. Reality suggests that most home buyers aren’t ready to purchase these types of homes, but if you were how much “home” would you want?

As much as I like space, I think I’d get lost in something like the Spelling mansion, affectionately known as The Manor. At 56,000 square feet of space and listed at $150 million, it boasts 123 rooms including 14 bedrooms, 27 bathrooms, 4 2-car garages and 16 car ports, and that’s just for starters, I feel as though my wife and I could start at opposite sides of the house and not find each other for months. We could meet in the media room to watch a few movies together after making our way through the barber shop, beauty salon, gym, restaurant sized kitchen, waterfalls, gardens and the like if we planned our schedules accordingly.

Then there’s the Hearst Mansion, which was once listed for $165 million and now is down to $95 million, actually had 4 other houses sitting on the property along with 3 swimming pools, its own state of the art movie theater, it’s own disco club, and was used as the house that they filmed the original Godfather movie at.

Of course, in California you can always go “cheaper” and still live ostentatiously, such as living in a home known as the MJ Ranch where, at $25 million, you can actually get 250 acres of land, 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, 8 fireplaces, 2 spas and a sauna.

Is that enough “home” for you?
