One of the easiest and most popular ways to add style to a room is wallpaper. It goes further than simply applying paint and decorations. With the many different colors and patterns available, wallpaper can give your room a unique personality.
Wallpaper, like everything else, varies in quality. Compromising on quality will leave you with wallpaper that is tough to handle and hang when the glue has been activated.
You may not be able to determine the quality of a roll just by its look. Visit a store that specializes in wallpaper and speak with a sales associate for information about their wallpaper products. If the business has been around for a while, you should receive good service. The sales associate will be willing to answer your questions and show you higher-quality styles as well as more economical alternatives.
If you have children, ask about clear-vinyl coatings. This coating allows for relatively easy removal of dirt and stains. In addition, clear-vinyl coating is glossy, which helps mask imperfections beneath your wallpaper.
Accessorize your wallpaper with a border. Usually borders are simple and are made to match your wallpaper, but you might like to add them to a room with painted walls as well.
Borders are normally easy to install as they are pre-trimmed along the top, allowing you to simply push them up against the ceiling. The tricky part is working around inside corners. By making a cut seam in corners, you can avoid the issue of the paper pulling out.
Before putting up your wallpaper or border, be sure to prime the area with a special paint. This is used to keep the glue from making its way to the drywall paper. The primer also keeps the glue from setting too quickly; it gives you time to properly position the paper.
If you’re a novice at hanging wallpaper, try practicing in a closet first. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect – practicing in a closet will give you the opportunity to learn how to work with corners and trimming at the ceiling and floors.
After activating the glue, allow the paper to settle. This is important because the paper expands when the glue is wet. Applying the paper too soon after activating the glue will result in bubbles that may not come out.
Allow five minutes for the paper to settle, then fold the portion of paper that contains the glue back onto itself (they’ll peel back apart). This keeps the glue from air-drying as you wait.

I agree that wallpaper can really make a room look nice, but when it comes to selling a home it’s a big no-no.
Good point Matt
Assuming you are starting with a painted wall, it is easier to repaint a wall than it is to remove/redo wallpaper later on. So, if your the type of person who likes to change looks every couple years, or are planning to sell in the near future, stick with paint. It is generally also easier to paint than it is to wallpaper. You really need two people when papering to properly hang the strips, and if you goof up, you have to start all over on that section.

My English clients like wallpapers. Example, with beautiful wallpapers in the dinning room and in the living room with nice matching furniture’s can instead increase the value of the house. So wallpapers, don’t need to be negative in selling view.
As a real estate agent, when trying to sell a home, the first thing I tell my sellers is to de-personify the home. Meaning take all of your personal “crap” and put it in storage. Wall paper is a huge turn off to a potential home buyer, but they do know it can be removed rather easily, so it’s really not that big of a deal. Great post!

You have got to be kidding me! Nothing will date a house quicker than wallpaper. Anyone who has ever survived the tedious, time consuming task removing wallpaper and repairing the resultant sheetrock damage would never place wallpaper on a wall again in their life.
It is much easier for my clients to apply a fresh coat of paint and increase the marketability of their home than deal with a wallpaper fiasco. If you want to see a buyer run out of a house, just show them an awesome house with wallpaper covering the walls.
