I think going green is going to be a necessity for new home builders. @James – it would probably be a tad bit shorter, but most of these builders do use greener materials and building practices. Some of the things builders do are truly impressive, and other builders, as you hinted at, just use the term to help sell a home. These builders really don’t offer much more than a few energy efficient appliances.

It is a tad bit over used, we like to write about green building a lot so we get some of the blame too!

Green home builders....If you ask me this term is being over used. I hear it whenever a builder offers the ability to add solar panels. Green building has a lot more to it than just simply being more energy efficient. It also includes the types of materials used and building practices. @Eddie – I’m sure it will be. Home builders have been very proactive in recent years when it comes to green building. If there’s a demand for it, builders will work to meet the demand.

Actually, I hope this list would be obsolete in the coming years ,or after a decade to be more realistic, since all home builders would have gone green by that time. But for now, this would have to do =)

Going green has arrived! I think people can see it saves money and is the right thing to do. A lot of the retirement communities are on board and this makes it attractive to boomers who don’t want to keep the cost of living down in future years.
