Shea Homes is continuing to push the envelope when it comes to education and “greener building”. With the introduction of the Superiology commitment in every home they build, Shea has made their building processes and intentions more transparent, and their goal to provide you with a greener and healthier home apparent.
Through Superiology, Shea Homes has created, defined and implemented a complete process that helps differentiate them from other builders. You can find information about the commitment below and on Shea Homes’ website in an easy to understand and fun manner. Superiology provides you with a comprehensive and easy way to learn about Shea Homes’ commitments and goals in their journey to make you happy. An effort that, according to Shea Homes, provides you with a safer, greener, healthier and more dependable home… a better built home.
Shea Superiology Breakdown
Energy Wiser Homes…
At Shea Homes, they are making all of their homes “energy wise” by adding numerous items such as dual pane windows, energy saving insulation, energy-efficient air conditioners, and in most communities, energy efficient appliances. All of these features help reduce your monthly utility bill and help conserve energy.
Shrinking Carbon Footprints…
Every new home affects the environment and leaves a lasting carbon footprint. Shea Homes has made it their responsibility to build homes that leave smaller footprints and are sensitive to the environment; these homes impact the environment less by using certified wood products from sustainable forests, recycled construction materials and by using water-conserving appliances.
Designed for you…
Shea Homes builds new homes using their Five-Sided Architecture process; the process ensures that your home looks different from the home next door to you. In addition to having a unique exterior, Shea Homes designs floor plans that accommodate the way you live “honor your personality, reflect your values and inspire you to live”.
Better Built…
Shea Homes designs homes from the ground up with “lasting value” homes that “provide you with many years of satisfaction”. A Shea Home offers a stable foundation that is more resistant to ground shifts, which minimizes floor cracks. The construction of a Shea home is closely monitored every step of the way by a “multi-point quality review” to ensure utmost quality every step of the way.
Satisfaction Guarantee…
Nationally recognized by JD Power and Associates, Shea consistently ranks highest among home builders in customer satisfaction by providing you with a “comfortable home buying experience”. An experience that includes you in every step of the way, one that ensures your new home meets your expectations and theirs. The entire buying process “is designed with one thing in mind: your happiness”.
Healthy Home = Healthy You…
Shea Homes recognizes the importance of your health, by using healthier materials like low-VOC paints, pollutant-free carpet products and state of the art air conditioners; they provide your family with a healthier living environment, one with fewer harmful agents in the air you breathe. These price-included standard features provide you with a healthy home and a better atmosphere for a healthier you.
A Safer Home…
Nothing is more important to you and your family than a safe home. Through firm building processes, Shea offers you peace of mind, standard, in every home they build. GFI electrical outlets, sloped porches and garage floors, smoke detectors, and tempered glass are all standard features that support safety in your new home.
Superiology means…
“building homes that are energy wiser, eco-friendlier, designed smarter, and built better. It also means creating homes that allow you to live happier, safer and healthier.”
Superiology is an entire home building process that involves checks and balances, eco-friendly and healthy materials and processes, safety features and your input. In the end, your new home is safer, greener, healthier and ready to stand the test of time. Superiology truly reflects Shea Homes’ core values in delivering you superior artisanship and a home that you can depend on; it reflects an inclusive obligation to your happiness, your health, your safety and to the health of our environment.

I think this is really great to see a home builder truly embracing the “green” movement. It doesn’t make the news, but homes are a huge load on the environment and it refreshing to see a home builder do something to reduce their impact.
Superiology – I know it’s a made up word but I can’t help thinking I have seen it somewhere else before.
@Caroline – They originally introduced it (months ago) in their Trilogy Active Adult communities…maybe that’s where you remember it from?
The only problem I foresee with making homes “greener” is… if you spend the money today to make the house greener, what happens if 2 years later the technology gets even better, then won’t your home be devalued as a result? Or maybe I am just thinking too much about it…

I love it when companies make up new words. The true master is Stephen Colbert, though. Pulte homes here in Las Vegas are about 30% more efficient as a standard than the Energy Star requirement. So they have already been going towards green and I can’t help but think that with a few more adjustments they could get a LEED certification.

@Jean – that’s a good argument, technology changes often and new products decrease the value of old products. I don’t think you can ever think too much – thanks for stopping by
@Charles – Stephen Colbert is definitely the man! It’s good to hear that Pulte Homes in LV has already been building greener homes. I read this post http://expectmoreinahome.com/blog/green-housing/ – over on Steve’s blog (great blog btw) and he mentioned the California home builders have been going green for a long time.
I’m impressed with Shea’s presentation the most – it’s clean, fun and educational; I like that it’s a commitment and that it’s all laid out in an easy to understand manner. Thanks for stopping by
