You make a good point. Most people these days search the internet when looking for a home. It still amazes me how many of today’s real estate agents don’t do more with their websites to provide good information. Sure, it is about looking at listings. But it is also about learning the area.
I bought my last house in 2002 and did almost nothing online. If I were to be in the market for a new house today, I wouldn’t leave my living room, where my laptop is, until I narrowed the search to house I really wanted to see. What did we ever do before the internet?
I’m not really sure? I’ve tried to imagine life without Internet access or a cell phone and it seems unbearable. It’s amazing that we depend on these technologies so much. They just make life easier.
Sadly, but a valuable opportunity, many home buyers make a decision based on the web and don’t really do a lot of research.
I research and buy most things today on the Internet. I am sure if I wasn’t a realtor and I was looking for a home - that’s the first place I would go.
I think the advantage that the net gives is that it lets you compare easily when you shop and rival companies are all under one click.
It also reduces the stress greatly, as you ca just sit back in you chair and buy a house!
