Tom Gipson of Thomas Gipson Homes, Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina received an award from ABC’s The View for being an Ultimate Volunteer. From their website “ABC and The View are on a search for the ultimate volunteer…that one person who selflessly gives and inspires others to action” – the results are in, and Tom Gipson received recognition for inspiring others and selflessly giving. Congrats Tom & thanks for everything you’ve done.
What did Tom do you Ask?
In 2002, he started the Home Builder Blitz program, which basically brings local home builders together to build homes with Habitat for Humanity. The homes are built within a few days, hence the word “blitz”, impressive when you consider that build times are usually at least a month. During the first year, Raleigh home builders built 12 homes; year two, Tom’s program delivered 24 homes. Tom then approached Habitat for Humanity International and asked to take the program national, they agreed.
Today, the Home Builder Blitz Program has brought together more than 1,000 home building professionals and has delivered more than 1,000 homes in more than 150 communities. An amazing accomplishment for the program, and Tom.
Tom inspired others to help and selflessly volunteered time and resources for unfortunate families in Raleigh and he was more than instrumental in bringing the Home Builder Blitz program national. In an article on ABC.com, Gipson said, “We built 260 some homes in a week in 2008 when homebuilders were desperate for work, so it’s a testament to the generosity of these homebuilders,”, you read that right, Tom gave accolades to the group of builders for their generosity when he could have easily plugged himself. On Monday, Tom’s going to make a national appearance on The View, as a testament to his goodwill, he’ll be using the time to drum up publicity for the Home Builder Blitz program and not his home building company – Thomas Gipson Homes, Inc.
Thanks for being a stand-up guy Tom

Good job Tom! That’s the way to pay it forward.
Dear Mr. Gipson:
Upon hearing your story today on The View show, I wanted to share my story with you and perhaps you can lead us in the right direction. We are quiet desperate! Due to a Nor-Eastern in 2007, a retaining wall collapsed in (Staten Island NYC/ Rosebank section). NY1 has already played several stories on this disaster and the Staten Island Advance has run numerous editorials as well. WE NEED HELP! All 9 homeowners have been evacuated, displaced, and homeless since 2007, with no help from anyone. Lawyers are draining our accounts, Mortgages are still in effect, homes are being burglarized & vandalized, etc. And to make matters worse the court appointed receiver “Robert Rampulla” is holding the SBA loan awarded to us hostage! Please contact me regarding this story. We need media coverage. Please help get this on the news!!! We are desperate and no one to turn to anymore.
