Builder On Line posted this article about modular housing last year; 10 Things You Need to Know About Modular Homes. In general it is a pretty good article and it brings up some worthy points that you should be aware of. One item in particular that is highlighted and is extremely important, is to realize that NOT all modular manufacturers are the same. There are some huge differences in quality and capabilities in the world of modular factories. I highly recommend due diligence in researching your manufacturer, then make the time to visit and take a factory tour. This will go a long way to help you build a home you are satisfied with. At Schiavi Home Builders we are constantly challenging our manufacturers to raise the bar and build homes that excel in quality. Our Home Building Specialists are trained to communicate details to the manufacturer so what you envision is what you receive. A great manufacturer, teamed with a great builder is a sure success.

This was very informative and you made great points that home buyers should consider before making a decision on a Modular Home and choosing a builder.
That is a great idea for home buyers to visit the factory and do research on the builder when considering a Modular Home; there are great reasons to choose a Modular home so long as you find a great builder.
Just like everything else, buyer beware! Another great reason to get representation from a real estate agent when purchasing a home even a modular home.
Interesting comment about having a real estate agent for a modular purchase. I would agree if the modular home has already been built – a real estate agent is important. We use local realtors to help us sell in a development type setting. Truly though, I don’t believe a realtor can be much help if someone is building their own custom built modular home. That is why it is even more important for the client to do their research and to choose a builder that has established a trustworthy reputation.
The article was interesting. After reading it, I realized that it makes sense to keep the design simple. It even makes a note about keeping the roofline simple to ease in the field issues. Neat read!
