When the Archers decided to relocate from their Pennsylvanian home into their retirement home, they knew they wanted two things: warm weather and an active lifestyle. While many communities feature homes designed specifically for the aging population, it takes a remarkable community to offer an active lifestyle to go along with the low-maintenance homes. So, when the Archers took a tour of the Cascades at World Golf Village, they knew immediately it was their new home.
The Cascades is an active-adult neighborhood within the master-planned development World Golf Village. As an active adult community, each home has been designed for individuals entering their retirement age with features like the master bedroom on the main level. In addition, the homeowner’s association takes care of lawn maintenance, so homeowners can spend their days enjoying everything the Cascades has to offer as opposed to pulling weeds and mowing the lawn.
The community has an abundance of amenities to keep residents active – a 22,000 square foot clubhouse with ping pong and billiards rooms, indoor and outdoor pools with spa, tennis and bocce ball. And, one can’t forget to mention the two beautiful golf courses that attract so many people to the Neighborhoods at World Golf Village. The Archers especially love the clubhouse as there is “always plenty to keep us busy.”
The Cascades features beautiful, Old Florida-style homes priced from the $300,000s. The Archers chose a spacious, open floorplan with two bedrooms and two baths. The home also features a den, which the Archers converted into a third bedroom. The couple installed an eco-friendly solar tube in the kitchen, which provides lots of natural sunlight, and low-e glass windows, which offer insulation against heat and cold. Situated on a nature preserve, the Archers enjoy a beautiful view from the back of the home.

Golf villages have several advantages, one being the sense of community and the surroundings are usually well maintained.
