DR Horton and MainStreet Homes are offering 5% and 6% (respectively) for select inventory homes in Austin, TX. Austin is fairing very well compared to most of the country (average prices down 1%, 2008-2009). It’s funny how many of the builders listed above are offering the $8,000 federal tax credit as their “unique” selling proposition. “Hey, me too!”

This incentives give a lot of information.Builders are really providing lots of incentives to move their properties. when We purchase a new Home Creations We will get a free storm shelter.. Its a good one….

We finalized a contract yesterday with a new home builder that was offering buyer incentives. The buyer was planning to build but, the incentive was only on existing inventory. wow, part of me wishes i was living in CA. Those sound like incredible deals. If that is on top of the first time buyer credit it could mean big savings.

Incentives pretty much tell the story of the housing market in country. In Austin, we are seeing the same efforts to attract buyers to new homes. We are also seeing the builders lower their asking prices for new and to-be-built homes. The insurance against job loss is something new in the market.
