Congratulations to Cheryl Smith of Lakeland, Florida and winner of HGTV's Dream Home 2009 Giveaway. Out of over 39 million entries, Smith is the winner of a Victorian-style farmhouse in Sonoma, California - valued at $2 million. In addition, Smith is the recipient of a 2009 GMC Acadia Crossover.
The announcement came Sunday, March 15 on HGTV. Smith, a grandmother of eight, stated, "it's a dream come true." The news came as a bit of a surprise to Smith, because she hadn't entered the contest herself. In fact, her husband and high school sweetheart Joseph Smith was the one who had entered Cheryl into the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway via the Internet.
