That’s pretty cool. I wonder how many of the building elements you could incorporate into a simple upgrading of a standing structure. President Obama is supposed to be pushing for making older homes more energy efficient.

@Charles – I researched existing homes a little and it turns out that you can upgrade them quite a bit.
Yep – Obama is supposed to initiate some green programs; hopefully, whatever he does is significant enough to make a big difference.
The ‘going green’ phenomenon is really growing and with websites such as FreeGreen.com offering free floor plans, it can only continue! Looks like people might care about the planet after all.
A log house is typically made from logs that have not been milled into conventional lumber. There are two kinds of log homes: “handcrafted” and “milled.” A handcrafted log home is typically made of logs that have been peeled but are essentially unchanged from their original natural appearance.
I think this helps people get started or at least gives them ideas. Most people aren’t willing to pay for these plans anymore in the age of everything free online so this is a must have for many. I have seen other websites such as this but FreeGreen.com has the best quality I have seen.

I checked out the site FreeGreen.com and it was really awesome. Within the near future I will be house hunting and these “go-green” floor plans are fantastic. I would prefer to invest now on a green friendly home then trying to update an older home. Installing efficent heating and cooling systems make a huge difference.
In my Charlotte, NC realty business, I find my clients more focused on green housing and energy efficiency. I like the Family of Four floor plan above… it should prove a fine choose for those building.
Thanks for the floor plan. We have lived in several houses that are about as far away from energy efficient as possible. I have paid some ridiculous AC/Heating bills too because of this. We are looking into more energy efficient housing options and your post was great for some info. Thanks!
This is a step in the right direction from what has been traditionally a rather expensive step in the custom home building phase.
Hi Thanks for sharing the nice information about free floor plans and energy efficient plans. It is very interesting to read and very helpful for many online users.
Going “green” is not just a good idea for the environment, it is also a hedge against oil supply problems as a result of confilcts around the world.
