Featured New Product Designs from the International Builders Show

NAHB’s annual International Builders Show was held in Las Vegas from January 22nd— 24th. Fortunately, what happened with respect to new product designs need not stay in Vegas.

1. Kohler’s Moxie™ is a speaker in a showerhead that allows you to connect, wirelessly, to your iPod. Later, when you want a portable speaker in the house or yard, you can remove it from the shower. You can even take it to the beach. It syncs using Bluetooth® technology.

2. Ez-Breeze Sunroom. At about $10.25 per square foot, you can now own an atrium. These three season windows are made of sturdy vinyl. They won’t keep the cold out in winter, but they will keep the bugs out in summer, and they configure to provide maximum ventilation.

3. Schlage® has a new 2013 Electronic House Product Award-winning Touchscreen motorized Deadbolt that can be remotely operated from your cell phone or computer and has a pad that resists fingerprint wear that can disclose access codes.

4. GE has a new Café French Door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom, a cold and hot water dispenser as well as a separate ice cream compartment that should keep your ice cream from turning to rock or slush.

5. Formica has new colors and patterns including melon, teal and mint.

6. Heat & Glo’s Twilight Modern double-sided fireplace gives you two gas fireplaces for the price of one. Get an immediate, cozy outdoor living room.

7. CertainTeed UnderShield is a new vinyl under deck system that will capture and divert water to keep the underside of your deck dry which means you can now make that underside into a nice roof for more outdoor living space or dry storage space underneath.

8. How about a solar-powered skylight with an automatic rain sensor from VELUX®?

9. The new Masonite Lemieux Torrefied Door has been specially treated so it’s less likely to warp or rot. You can have beautiful wood entry doors.

10. If you’ve been living with bars and grilles over your windows, you can replace them with security screens made from high-tensile, marine-grade stainless steel from MESHTEC.
