After four years on the Jacksonville Business Journal’s list of Northeast Florida’s Best Places to Work, The Davidson Companies – Davidson Development, Inc., Davidson Realty, Inc. and Davidson Property Management, Inc. – made it to the top of the list. The company ranked first in the small business category in the publication’s annual awards program, up from third place last year.
Company representatives were recently honored at the publication’s fourth annual Best Places to Work event. “We’ve been named one of the Best Places to Work for the past four years, but we are so excited that we made first place,” said Sherry Davidson. “I think this award is very special because it recognizes every person in our company. The agents and employees are the ones who make this a great place to work.”
The Best Places to Work award is employee-nominated and requires that a certain percentage of employees participate in a survey on the workplace environment. The results are tabulated by Quantum Workplace, which specializes in measuring workplace satisfaction. Davidson scored 98.6 out of 100 points.
Davidson’s sense of team spirit and camaraderie is enhanced through weekly barbecues in the company’s outdoor courtyard. Jim Davidson dons a chef’s hat and apron and grills every Friday afternoon for the staff and their guests. The company also offers many opportunities for professional development throughout the year.
In the Jacksonville Business Journal’s special section on the Best Places to Work, administrative assistant and six-year veteran Sharon King was quoted as calling her job wonderful. “Every day when you come to work, it’s just exciting. It’s not like going to a job. This is a very large family,” said King, who attributed the workplace environment to the Davidsons. “Just knowing they care about you personally and professionally, that makes all the difference.”

Our congratulations to the Davidson Companies for making it to the top of the list.
As business professionals I believe that we can lose sight of the fact that it is our employees that can make or break us. Especially in these competitive times we are in.
I have always felt that employee retention is essential for success and it looks like Davidson gets it!

First a big congratulation and second its great to read who companies take so much care of the staff so the love going to the job. More companies should try to work more for that.
Happy employees build well-constructed homes, that’s for sure. I’ve seen construction companies where all of the employees are unhappy, and the result is very poor quality construction. It’s great to read stories about real estate firms that know how to run a business. Thanks for your post.

Great to hear that an honourable company is being right lauded for showing a good commitment to the happiness and development of its employees. That’s great leadership.
