I agree with the writer that all of the areas he mentioned need to be correct for a home to sell in this market. Curb appeal is number 1 and it used to be that good curb appeal would sell a house on its own in a good market. However I think today that you need to get the buyer into the house with great curb appeal and then keep them interested with a great interior. I think flooring needs to be at least clean and a seller might consider replacing carpet and hard flooring to give them an advantage. Nice looking flooring is possibly second to curb appeal in getting a home sold.

I am amazed at hown many sellers don’t even try to fix the basics like a front door in need of some paint or weeds in the flower beds by the walkway.

It is possible to get your lawn weed free. There are plenty of chemical and organic treatments you can use to kill weeds but not the lawn. I see plenty of lawns out here in Austin TX that are green and free of weeds.

The idea is to grab a buyer’s attention and keep it. Walking up to a well maintained, inviting home really makes a difference. I would also remember to update your mailbox if it sits outside of your home. A mailbox that complements the home can help add to your home’s curb appeal.

You make some great points here. I completely agree that curb appeal in necessary and that you need to keep up the outside image of your house. However, you can’t neglect the inside of you home either. The exterior will attract buyers, but the interior will get them to ope their wallet, and purchase your home.
