In a slow market, like what we are seeing in most cities right now, buyers without pre-approval just won't be taken seriously. It saves EVERYONE involved lots of time and frustration. The buyers, the sellers, and the agents. I hated to hear that someone who liked the house I was selling wanted to make an offer but couldn't until they were pre-approved. Guess what? They ended up not getting approved for the amount they needed and everyone was back at square one. Can you tell I've tried to sell a house before? Good information. I have found in 20 years of selling real estate that the majority of buyers are willing to follow these steps once they are aware of them.
