Atlanta in a Housing Shortage?

In early 2010 the metro Atlanta area had 13,438 new homes on the market. According to a study done by Metrostudy Inc., if demand stays where it has been for the past year, those 13 thousand houses could be gone by the middle of this year, leaving Atlanta with an undersupply of new homes. If demand increases at all over the course of the year, we could potentially run out of homes.

The positive news is that 2010 is looking to be the year the housing market turns around, the negative would be having unhappy buyers with no inventory to choose from. The solution is obvious. Builders need to begin building again. Bowen Family Homes is one builder that has stepped up to that plate. The metro Atlanta builder has begun construction on 43 new houses this year, 10 more than they constructed throughout the whole of 2009. By the end of the year Bowen Family Homes hopes to have built 150 new homes throughout the metro Atlanta area.

Buyers will have the option to customize these new homes as well as take advantage of amazing presale opportunities. With the homebuyer tax credit still going strong and the chance to custom design a new home in the Bowen Family Homes neighborhood of choice, now is the perfect time for buyers to head out and purchase a new home.
