Rancho Sahuarita, in Tucson, comes in at #5 on the list of the top 10 best-selling master planned communities in the nation, per Robert Charles Lesser, a real estate consulting firm based in Bethesda, MD. In 2008, there were 506 new homes sold, and in 2009 there were 358 homes sold, making it the top housing community in Arizona as well. It also increased its market share in the Tucson area, moving up to 16%. There have been more than 5,000 homes sold in the area since it opened in 2001.
A massive community like Rancho Sahuarita takes many home builders, and there are six major homes builders creating homes and neighborhoods in the area, with the square footage of the homes ranging from 1,189 to 3,669: Richmond American; Maracay Homes; D. R. Horton Homes; Pulte Homes; KB Homes; and Del Webb. It’s so large that it has its own homeowners association, which is managed by Lewis Management, as well as a clubhouse that’s also a full-service recreation center with fitness equipment, dance and aerobic studios, and an adults lounge, a park system which includes the Safari Trail, Bark Park, and Desert and Butterfly Gardens, a kiddie train, a water park, and access to Sahuarita Lake, a man-made lake that offers a respite from hot summer temperatures.
