Arizona Condominium Living

While many people dream of living in a detached, others find that buying a condominium has several advantages as well. As population trends shift from suburban living back to city living, more people are experimenting with the idea that condo living is right for them.  Greater Phoenix is seeing a resurgence of urban living, and Arizona condominiums are gaining popularity. It is important to consider all options when buying real estate in Arizona and choosing a condominium may be the right choice for you.  Here are some things that may be considered advantages to condominium living.

    1. Living in a condominium requires less maintenance than a home.
Condos are run and governed by an Association, an elected group of individuals chosen to act on behalf of residents.  Choosing to live in a condominium means most maintenance and exterior repairs are the responsibility of the Condominium (or “Home”) Owners’ Association (HOA).  Some interior repairs may also be covered.  Lawn care and swimming pool maintenance are the responsibility of the Association. Usually, the association also manages plumbing problems and roof repairs.  The repairs are completed by professionals contracted by the Association. Community bylaws are also enforced, lessening the possibility of confrontations between neighbors.
    2. Buying a condominium allows the owner to be close to city life and conveniences.
Condos are built in all sections of a city. However, they are often located in prime locations close to city attractions and more jobs. Individuals often buy condos to shorten their work commute or live close to vibrant nightlife activities found in the city.  Other amenities that are usually in close proximity to condominiums include hospitals, banks, grocery stores, and retail stores.  Some condos for sale in Phoenix even may have some of these amenities on site.
    3. Condominiums often have more community amenities than homes do.
Residents of condominiums often have several amenities within walking distance. Nearly all Arizona condos for sale have a swimming pool for their residents’ use.  Some other common amenities found in condominium communities include a sky lounge, community clubhouse, movie theatre/media room, putting greens and fitness centers; some even have personal trainers on site. Most condominiums allow their residents to use the community clubhouse for private parties.
    4. Living in a condominium can be or may feel safer than living in a single family home.
Most condos have security systems in place for the safety of their residents.  Some properties have security guards to deter crime.  With many residents living in the same building, residents can feel safe knowing that someone will always be in close proximity to their home.  Usually, residents get acquainted with each other, and they watch out for each other’s safety.

Arizona homebuyers have many choices in the real estate market. Before deciding on a home, buyers should weigh their options and decide what type of living arrangement is best for them.  There are advantages and disadvantages to owning a house or condominium, and you should consider both before deciding on a new home for your family.
